If I could sleep all the way until August I would. I have barely gotten out of bed this weekend. My doctor’s recommendation of taking Dramamine for my evening nausea has worked for me…also, just eating less has made me feel a lot better. It has also made me lose five pounds! Maybe I won’t take the record for weight gain in a pregnancy after all. Hopefully I won’t have to fill the prescription for the real nausea medication my doctor wrote me…still debating whether or not to fill the vicodin he prescribed for my tendonitis (which, he thinks is also the culprit of the pain in my foot). I can’t exactly take it during the day, which is when I need it the most. I might just tough it out until august when I can take ibuprofen again. I am also going to be seeing a podiatrist soon, so I want to see what he has to say about my foot. I am sure it will be something along the lines of “Your foot is hurt and you are pregnant so we can’t do anything for you. Sorry!”
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this weather. I know it is crappy and rainy and I am sure everyone is so sad that the weather isn’t nice for the holiday weekend (wah), but you know what? If I can’t have fun, no one else should be able to either. It also makes sleeping all day easier when it is dark and rainy out. I love it!
And finally: I posted this a couple years ago on my myspace blog and thought I would repost it to see if anyone new wanted to do it. I think it is kind of interesting.

Coming soon: details of Alexia’s First Blood Draw (I survived!), plus: how much ice cream can one person eat? An experiment.

And now, what you have all been waiting for. Or possibly you don’t care, but if that is the case, then why are you reading my blog? Thought so. I posed for some of the requisite profile shots that I think you are required by law to take when you are pregnant. Like, I think DHS takes your baby away at the hospital if you don’t. I am not sure, but I certainly don’t want to take that risk. So I had Eryn take these of me a couple weeks ago. I will probably take some more next week sometime so we can compare how much more Holland has completely taken over my body. Here is one–the other two are on my flickr account if you care. They look basically the same, give or take a few degrees of giganticness.

Like I said, these are from a couple weeks ago, so I am actually 27 weeks right now. That means THIRD TRIMESTER!!! Which I am sooo excited about. Third trimester means doctor appointments every other week, baby shower and setting up the nursery. yay! I have also started having some strange third trimester morning sickness (and by morning, I mean all day), which sucks. And there is the matter of my baby being A FREAKING HUGE GIANT MONSTER BABY whose one goal in life is to make me as uncomfortable as possible. And the sprained tendons in my left foot and the tendonitis in my right shoulder that I can’t take any (decent) painkillers for. But yeah, yay third trimester! Three months from TODAY is my due date. yikes.

My due date is officially under 100 days away! To celebrate I am off to go tour the Good Samaritan Birthing Center. Also, I decided on a pediatrician for Holland today. BIG DAY in pregnancy land!

What makes a photo “interesting” on Flickr? I have no idea, but apparently, this picture ranks at the very top of that list for my flickr pictures.

This was Thanksgiving 2007. We were in Grant’s Pass at my grandparents house and I can’t remember why we decided to put my parka on Emma, but I think it was a decision made after quite a bit of wine was consumed. Look how well she obeys, standing still like that while I take her picture. The hood fell over her eyes after this and she kept bumping into things as we were trying to take it off of her. Joe watched in horror as we laughed and laughed…(”You guys are mean! Mean!”)

The new Death Cab for Cutie album, Narrow Stairs, came out today. I really like it! It reminds me of their older stuff a little, and it doesn’t make me want to slit my wrists like Plans did/does (Hey, thanks favorite band for releasing a really depressing album the same summer I go through a difficult breakup. Thanks for that). I still need to listen to it more to form a solid opinion, but so far so good. Transatlanticism is still my favorite of course, and I don’t think they will be able to ever top it…but it’s still nice to get something new from them after three years of waiting.

What does it all mean, Holland?

According to my flickr account, this picture is the “most viewed” out of all 3,508 pictures.

About this picture:
It was taken late summer 2005, right before Emily left to go live in France. We were 23. We were at Laura’s family’s house at the coast. We had spent the day shopping, laying in the sun, eating crab and drinking. In this picture, we were obviously intoxicated and had just applied fake tattoos, hence the posing. WHY IS THIS THE MOST VIEWED PICTURE? I think it’s because of Emily…who is going to kill me for posting this…but I am pretty sure she doesn’t read my blog. Heehee. The other star of this picture is Alana’s pink Juicy sweatshirt that I always wanted to permanently steal…PS, I am wearing head to toe Juicy in this picture, how very “2005/I work at Nordstrom” of me. Also, I am thin. I need to look at more pictures like this to remind myself that I won’t always be pregnant and enormous. Speaking of being pregnant and enormous, last night I broke down and took some of the requisite pregnancy profile shots. I will post them soon.
Tomorrow is another Pop Art Party! I need to rest up for the big day.

Scene:
Present Perfect in downtown Portland.
I am trying to purchase a card for a co-worker. The lady working at the store takes note of my pregnancy and decides she needs to start commenting on it.
Evil Old Lady: So, are you having a summer baby?
Me: [Realizing what is coming] Yes. August.
Evil Old Lady: “August!! By the looks of you, it could be a spring baby! Are you sure there aren’t TWO in there?”
Me: Uh, no. Just one. She is big.
Evil Old Lady: It’s a she? What’s her name?
Me: Holland
Evil Old Lady: Holland? Are you going to call her “Holland Oats?” [laughs]
Me: [speechless]
Evil Old Lady: Have you heard that one yet?
Me: Uh…no. [Slowly backs away from the lady and exits the store.]

Week 25. Last night I googled “videos of childbirth.” BIG MISTAKE. As badly as I want this to be over, actually thinking about how it is really going to end doesn’t help the situation any. Today was beautiful and warm out. It was depressing. The weather is getting warmer and by the time summer hits, I will be well into my third trimester, and probably as miserable as ever. I have an entire summer ahead of me of doing nothing and not having fun ever. Nothing fits me in my closet anymore, and I couldn’t fit into a single thing at Forever 21 today. I haven’t really bought clothes from anywhere else in years. I don’t know where to buy maternity clothes that don’t TOTALLY SUCK. Everything at Mimi Maternity is really overpriced. The maternity section at Target is so bad it’s actually funny. The clothes are HUGE and boxy, with these obnoxious prints all over everything. NOTHING is long enough for me anywhere. It is time to get serious about maternity clothes shopping. I may be miserable, but I will be damned if I will look like some frumpy fat ass on top of it.
