I am envious of people who hop out of bed every morning at 5am. I would give anything to be a morning person. Those are the kind of people who organize their mail. I don’t even open all of mine. Even my toddler would rather sleep until nine. We might be doomed. We also just might be more fun.

Spring So Far

My usually least favorite season has proven to be my best in quite some time (years, even). The month of April was jam-packed with fun events, plus I even got a new job. I miss my PA friends already, but this change means more money, and while you may have heard more money equals more problems, for me it equals MOVING BACK TO PORTLAND!!!!! Which i will be doing hopefully in June. SO! Here are some pictures from the fun things I did last month:

Then came Lindsey and Patrick’s wedding, which was so so so fun and cute, where we danced all night and the phrase “wedding mode” was coined:

Continuing on with the wedding theme, the next weekend Holland and I flew down to San Diego for Quinn and Lindsey’s wedding. Such a fun (and exhausting) weekend. San Diego was beautiful, the wedding was amazing and it was great to be able to spend some time with them before they took off on their honeymoon.

Then we had my brother’s birthday party, also known as the only time of the year that Emily, Keely and I will go to the Marathon. As always, it proved to be an epic night:

So like I said, lots of fun in April, and hopefully lots more to come in May. Yay!

I recently discovered this band, and they rock. This is a cover album of Hall & Oates songs (ah, memories). It’s all I can do to not torture my co-workers by playing it on repeat in the studio. Although they deserve that.

What’s this, you ask?

Oh, that’s just my bib from the 5k I ran a couple weekends ago. No big deal.

What’s that? You don’t believe me? “Alexia…” you say, “Alexia, you don’t run. You CAN’T run. You are a big whiny unathletic baby with bad knees. Alexia doesn’t run.”

I beg to differ.

I ran a 5k in 36 minutes, 10 seconds, at a pace of 11:39. I am hoping to run another one in April. I officially like it more than going to the gym, and miss it on days that I don’t do it. I even bought running shoes (YES! Shoes that TIE!). I am unstoppable.

One evening back in August while up in Seattle for Quinn’s triathlon, the subject of Clamato came up. Quinn and I both started expressing our disgust over the existence of this atrocity of a beverage, but Lindsey didn’t know what it was. Quinn starts explaining: “Clamato is a drink made from clams and tomatoes. You know, kind of like how Orangina is made from oranges and vaginas.”

Still funny.

New Year’s, No Thanks

New Year’s Eve is my least favorite holiday. Yeah, you heard me. One would think I would love new years…it’s a major drinking holiday that involves sparkly clothing, staying up late and kissing boys…some of my favorite things. One would be wrong. New years is the worst sort of “all your eggs in one basket” type of night. Find the most fun place, somehow manage to get all your friends together, wear the cutest outfit, meet your future husband during the countdown to midnight, have the most fun night omg omg omg. Regardless, I have faithfully celebrated this stupid night for the past ten years. Faithfully. Dutifully, even. I am just not the sort of person who can happily sit at home while the world is out having fun without me (see all blog posts from 2008 for more information on this.) I have had a handful of super fun new years, a handful of really terrible new years, and a handful of uneventful new years. Below: A sampling from the past few years.

Here is a new years I have fond memories of:

2006. Oh what a great year this was. And this new year’s eve was one of the most fun and memorable nights of the year. Sadly, 2007 didn’t turn out so well. You could kind of say that things started to head downhill a bit after this new years. You could say that. If you wanted.

Exhibit A: 2007

Oh, do I look happy? That’s funny. Here I am, SEVEN weeks pregnant, on a bus tour of endless bars. It took literally every ounce of strenth in my body to get out of bed that day and get ready to go out. Totally sober and surrounded by the drunkest of the drunkos. Ready to ring in 2008, which was officially the worst year of my life. I feel very, very sorry for the Alexia in this picture.

Then we have last year:

One year later. This night was fun, but nothing super eventful or memorable. I did love my skirt though. A lot. I found it the other day and got so excited (ooh! I want to wear this!), put it on and realized I could now fit two of myself in it. Which made me very happy. Because the only thing I love more than a sequined skirt is major weight loss.

Onward to new year’s eve 2009. It probably won’t be amazing, but after it’s done, 2010 will be upon us. And 2010 is going to be a great year. Because I am pretty sure the universe owes me that.
