JK. I am sitting here on my couch watching the cats lick eachother. They are friends! They never do it when I have my camera handy, though. I had to leave work early today because I have felt sick all week and today it finally caught up with me. According to the internet, my uterus is the size of a soccer ball. I can feel said uterus under my rib cage and it makes me naseous.  Literally, it makes me naseous, not just the thought of it. I am a month away from my third trimester. Can’t wait!

In other news, I finally got a computer of my very own, which is pretty much the most exciting thing that has happend to me in, oh, about 6 months. I made chili this week and it turned out AMAZING. Oh, and the Office is on tonight. Wow, i lead an exciting life.

To close, I would like to introduce a new feature called “Rude Things Complete Strangers Have Said to Me This Week.”

“What does your husband do?” Oh, I am not married, but thanks old man I don’t know. Please pray for my illegitimate child!

“You are due in AUGUST?! But you are SO BIG! Are you having TWINS?” Thanks Safeway Checker Lady. I appreciate your concern. Please rot in hell.

Cooking with Emily and Alexia

One major thing that has changed in my life since I became pregnant is the fact that I cook now. Like, actual meals. This has been inspired by the two main themes of my pregnancy: boredom and lack of alcohol. I fill these voids with food, and my cravings are getting more and more specific as time goes on. I discovered that making my own food is the easiest way to satisfy Holland and her demands. Luckily, I live next door to a Safeway, so I can walk over there pretty much anytime to get what I need. The things I eat most often are ben & jerry’s, vegetables with ranch dip, bacon, broiled salmon and spaghetti and meatballs. However, last weekend I got a craving for asparagus and gorgonzola (??? yeah, I know), so Emily and I went to safeway and picked up some ingredients to make pasta. We were so impressed with the gourmet dish we managed to cook up, we decided to make something new every weekend and document it. Here is installment number one:

Meal: Penne with gorgonzola sauce, asparagus and mushrooms, served with garlic bread. And candles.

For the sauce I melted cream, gorgonzola, parmesan, pepper and butter over low heat until it was melted. We baked the asparagus, sauteed the mushrooms, boiled the pasta and stirred it all together.

For the bread we couldn’t decide between olive oil and butter, so we decided to do a taste test. Half of the bread had olive oil and half had butter, all with chopped garlic and parmesan on top. In case you were wondering, butter won.

We were thrilled with the results:
