I have a stats program installed on my blog that gives me some fun information on who is visiting my blog. Nothing too crazy of course, just typical stuff like I can see the IP address of commenters (not a big deal since my commenters are Alana and my mother about 90 percent of the time). Basically I check it out on occasion to see how many people viewed my blog on a certain day. My biggest day was, not surprisingly, the day I THOUGHT Holland was going to be born, August 27th. I had 99 views that day. Big time blogging! Anyway, my favorite thing about the program is how it shows me the specific terms people searched for on a search engine that made them land on my blog. Often it is just “itsybitsybaby” or “alexia lysandra” or something that shows that they were specifically trying to find me and it is someone I know. But what is really fun are the terms people search and randomly stumble upon me. Alana has been bugging me to write this blog since this summer. With 2008 ending tomorrow, I thought I would finally document it for all to see. So here we go:
My Top Ten Favorite 2008 Search Terms That Led to ME!
10. tillamook cheese and pregnancy (Oh Tillamook…you and your cheese curds are such a tease!)
9. baby clothe swear house (This one creeps me out. Is it a horror film?)
8. “i am barefoot” (hippy la la, is that you?)
7. future nordstrom leaders (This one freaked me out a little at first (Big Nordstrom Brother! Stop watching me!) until I realized I had mentioned being in FNL in a past blog. Phew)
6. styrofoam cubes for sale (Internet search engine user, you have come to the right place)
5. where in the netherlands can i have a 3d ultrasound (Again. Totally the right place)
4. vancouver living (Holland and I will be on the cover of the upcoming spring issue)
3. why does my baby’s forehead look big (Warning: your future son or daughter MAY have a complex if you make this an issue)
Number two is a tie: “slutty baby clothes” and “fleas in bassinet.” The discovery of this fun little combo back in August inspired this IM to Alana:
12:35 PM me: somebody found my blog by googling “slutty baby clothes”
12:36 PM between that and “fleas in bassinet” from earlier in the week, I pretty much feel like i can win the best parent ever award
While those were my two longstanding favorite terms, today someone used one that bumped them out of the number one spot. Drumroll please.
And my number one favorite search term that lead to my blog in 2008 IS…………..
I had such a great time today and received an obscene amount of gifts. It was so fun to see so many people in one place and we had strawberry ice cream cake and yummy cheese and fruit and the best strawberry lemonade punch and champagne. I hope everyone else had as good a time as I did. It is strange to have reached such a major milestone in my pregnancy. Less than ten weeks until Holland the Star of the World makes her arrival!
I am too tired to think of something original to write about tonight, so I am reposting something Jen put on her myspace blog back in October. It is one of the funniest IM exchanges we’ve ever had, and is actually pretty appropriately themed for my blog. Rereading it still makes me laugh out loud (LOL, if you will.) I know it’s totally a had to be there sort of thing, but guess what? It’s my blog.

alexia: your head is vacant. lol.
jen: ahhh, you’re so sweet.
alexia: just smile. i know.
jen: you should write greeting cards.
alexia: Outside: I know why you smile. Inside: Your head is vacant like a baby. Happy Birthday!
According to my flickr account, this picture is the “most viewed” out of all 3,508 pictures.
About this picture:
It was taken late summer 2005, right before Emily left to go live in France. We were 23. We were at Laura’s family’s house at the coast. We had spent the day shopping, laying in the sun, eating crab and drinking. In this picture, we were obviously intoxicated and had just applied fake tattoos, hence the posing. WHY IS THIS THE MOST VIEWED PICTURE? I think it’s because of Emily…who is going to kill me for posting this…but I am pretty sure she doesn’t read my blog. Heehee. The other star of this picture is Alana’s pink Juicy sweatshirt that I always wanted to permanently steal…PS, I am wearing head to toe Juicy in this picture, how very “2005/I work at Nordstrom” of me. Also, I am thin. I need to look at more pictures like this to remind myself that I won’t always be pregnant and enormous. Speaking of being pregnant and enormous, last night I broke down and took some of the requisite pregnancy profile shots. I will post them soon.
Tomorrow is another Pop Art Party! I need to rest up for the big day.
I am what some might call “messy” or “unorganized” in my personal life. I move around a lot and I tend to pack up my stuff, store it somewhere and not get around to unpacking it for a couple years. I accumulate a lot of stuff, so I never really notice if I am missing something. This impending baby has been making me feel like I should, perhaps, get my shit together. This evening, for some reason, I felt inspired to go look at the contents of the trunk of my car, and it was like a TREASURE chest of fun things I had forgotten all about. This is what I found (and this is just what I could carry inside in one trip):
Two of my favorite jackets
A pair of awesome heels I thought I had lost
Two pairs of flip flops i haven’t seen since Mexico
A Pippi Longstocking DVD (?????)
Some random christmas presents I meant to give out in 2006 (guess they are mine now!)
A tote FULL of toiletries (including my Be Delicious fragrance back from when I worked AT NORDSTROM, some expensive skin products, the Amor Amor fragrance Quinn gave me for valentine’s day like, senior year or something and a kind of ridiculous amount of hair products)
About a third of my MASSIVE (and missing) accessories collection (I know you are out there, other two-thirds! I will find you!)
I can’t wait to delve into the rest of my packed up belongings and see what I find.
Today’s Special was my favorite tv show when I was little (like, pre-kindergarten). I don’t remember a ton about it, but I watched it everyday, and watching this video of the theme song still makes me a little anxious and excited, because I loved it SO much. I was traumatized by the way they ended the show–they bulldozed the mall where the mannequins lived. I don’t remember the fate of the mannequins though. I hope they made it out safely…
Lindsey was in town for work this week, and we got together to eat and chat. She came bearing loads and loads of gifts from her and Quinn, for both me and Holland. We had them spread out all over our table at Red Star, and there was lots of squealing, as tends to happen when girls look at baby stuff. After a particularly crappy week, it was really nice to have such a fun afternoon. It did make me wish that they lived closer though. Sad face. Anyway, I took some pictures of all my fun new stuff last night. Enjoy!
Oh boy, do I loooove Shabby Chic. New bedding! Lindsey brought me a duvet cover, new pillowcases, new sheets (you can’t see but matching the striped pillowcases) and that pretty little flower print pillow (with an extra cover in case I want to switch patterns).
Basil, Manatee and the Other Bunna enjoying the new bedding:
Basil still has his eye on one of his invisible ceiling bugs.
Baby stuff!!
Crib sheets, changing pad cover, bibs, towel, burp cloths (to go with the bibs and blanket she sent in December). Basil was helping me take off the tags.
Baby Pajamas!
And some darling tennis and bunny stuff from Quinn. The bunny is a rattle. TOO CUTE.
You may notice that according to this calendar, I am having a boy. I tested it on six people whose information I knew, and it was right four times and wrong twice. If anyone wants to test it on themselves or their moms to see if it’s right, please let me know the results. I only have two weeks left until I found out and I am starting to worry that the two items of baby girl clothing I bought might have jinxed me…
