Lots going on around here… plenty of excuses as to why I haven’t been blogging. Sunday morning our house flooded because some hot water pipe or tube or something under the sink in the kitchen broke. Thankfully I wasn’t here, but I arrived home to something out of the Twilight Zone. Everything was wet, moved around, out of order. I couldn’t find my mom or my brother, but both of the dogs were loose and the stove was on. Uh…apparently the water had stretched clear from one side of the house to another, and was ankle deep. It took them all morning to get all the water out of the house, and I am sure they were cursing my absence the entire time. Yesterday we had a guy come look at our most likely ruined hardwood floors, and starting today he is going to be attempting to save them by running some sort of giant fans or something…which means we can’t sleep in our bedrooms, because they come right off the hall with the wet floors. AWESOME. I am going to be a nomad for the next three to five days, sleeping at the homes of various friends. Always a fun adventure to be homeless when you have a baby. Can’t wait! Other fun side effects of the flood are, once the fans are hooked up we can’t use our dryer, so that means no laundry. And up until last night we had no hot water in the sink in the kitchen, which meant boiling water in the hot pot if you wanted to do dishes. Luckily, I never find myself wanting to wash dishes. Joe managed to fix the pipe (tube?) problem under the sink though, and now we have hot water again. Thanks, Joe the Plumber!
In other news, Holland had her pictures taken professionally this last weekend. The photographer’s name is Sarah Costa, and she has posted some of the shots on her flickr account. I anxiously check back every so often to see if she has added any more. If you want to see all the pictures in their glory, this is the link:

They are AMAZING!

I was sitting on the couch tonight going through pictures that I want to scan this week and working on thank you cards when I remembered it has been three weeks since my last pregnancy photo shoot. [pointless story start] When I stood up to go get my camera, one of the photo albums fell off the couch. I was standing near the cat dishes, where Basil was eating. The noise scared him, and he jumped onto my feet and scratched up my toes. I screamed (bad idea) which scared him MORE and he knocked over both his food dish and his water dish and ran across the room, leaping over the coffee table onto the couch, unplugging my computer and almost knocking it off the table. He ended up on top of the couch, where he stayed for a good ten minutes, eyeing me suspiciously as I cleaned up his mess and tried not to get my bleeding toes on the carpet. This is the second time I have needed a band-aid this weekend (surprise! I don’t have any!). Yesterday I cut myself shaving and it was still bleeding a half hour later, alarming Alana: ”OMG, Alexia, why are you bleeding so much? Is it because of the baby? [pointless story end]
Anyway, here it is, 32 weeks, in all its glory. I look significantly bigger than three weeks ago and I have gained about five pounds.

Somebody really needs to clean that mirror.

Lest anyone see this picture on my flickr sidebar and think I had a baby yesterday:

This is a picture of me when I was nine days old. I wanted to compare the pictures of me with Holland’s 3D ultrasound pictures to see how similar we look. I learned how to use the scanner at work yesterday, so this will not be the last old picture you see. Other news:
Last night I bought a tub of cheesecake filling at safeway and am eating it with graham crackers.
Holland is breech! I am having another ultrasound in two weeks (yay!) at my doctor’s office for them to check the position and if she is still breech, they said they can try to turn her. I may not actually do that, because I hear it hurts and she might go right back to her old position anyway. It actually involves checking into the hospital for a good part of the day, and if they accidently separate the baby from the placenta while they are doing it, they have to do an emergency c-section. Eeek! If she doesn’t flip around in the next few weeks I will most likely be scheduling a c-section for the beginning of August. The plus side to this is not having to wait as long for Holland to arrive, which would be nice (this is because they schedule c-sections for 38/39 weeks, as opposed to the actual due date). Also..8/8/08 for a birthday? Anyone else think that is cool?

I have a bunch of stuff I want to blog about, but was too lazy this weekend, busy today and now it’s time for bed. I will get to all of it this week I PROMISE! In the meantime…a picture!
I am technically not 29 weeks for three more days, but what the hell. I feel pregnant enough to say that I am. I took this last night:

I look a lot bigger than last month’s picture, but I have only gained 6 pounds, I promise. Holland is so big now that she regularly kicks my ribs. It doesn’t hurt but it feels really weird, like she is rattling my insides. The Big Baby also has a middle name now. I will share that with the world soon.
Goodnight!

And now, what you have all been waiting for. Or possibly you don’t care, but if that is the case, then why are you reading my blog? Thought so. I posed for some of the requisite profile shots that I think you are required by law to take when you are pregnant. Like, I think DHS takes your baby away at the hospital if you don’t. I am not sure, but I certainly don’t want to take that risk. So I had Eryn take these of me a couple weeks ago. I will probably take some more next week sometime so we can compare how much more Holland has completely taken over my body. Here is one–the other two are on my flickr account if you care. They look basically the same, give or take a few degrees of giganticness.

Like I said, these are from a couple weeks ago, so I am actually 27 weeks right now. That means THIRD TRIMESTER!!! Which I am sooo excited about. Third trimester means doctor appointments every other week, baby shower and setting up the nursery. yay! I have also started having some strange third trimester morning sickness (and by morning, I mean all day), which sucks. And there is the matter of my baby being A FREAKING HUGE GIANT MONSTER BABY whose one goal in life is to make me as uncomfortable as possible. And the sprained tendons in my left foot and the tendonitis in my right shoulder that I can’t take any (decent) painkillers for. But yeah, yay third trimester! Three months from TODAY is my due date. yikes.

What makes a photo “interesting” on Flickr? I have no idea, but apparently, this picture ranks at the very top of that list for my flickr pictures.

This was Thanksgiving 2007. We were in Grant’s Pass at my grandparents house and I can’t remember why we decided to put my parka on Emma, but I think it was a decision made after quite a bit of wine was consumed. Look how well she obeys, standing still like that while I take her picture. The hood fell over her eyes after this and she kept bumping into things as we were trying to take it off of her. Joe watched in horror as we laughed and laughed…(”You guys are mean! Mean!”)

According to my flickr account, this picture is the “most viewed” out of all 3,508 pictures.

About this picture:
It was taken late summer 2005, right before Emily left to go live in France. We were 23. We were at Laura’s family’s house at the coast. We had spent the day shopping, laying in the sun, eating crab and drinking. In this picture, we were obviously intoxicated and had just applied fake tattoos, hence the posing. WHY IS THIS THE MOST VIEWED PICTURE? I think it’s because of Emily…who is going to kill me for posting this…but I am pretty sure she doesn’t read my blog. Heehee. The other star of this picture is Alana’s pink Juicy sweatshirt that I always wanted to permanently steal…PS, I am wearing head to toe Juicy in this picture, how very “2005/I work at Nordstrom” of me. Also, I am thin. I need to look at more pictures like this to remind myself that I won’t always be pregnant and enormous. Speaking of being pregnant and enormous, last night I broke down and took some of the requisite pregnancy profile shots. I will post them soon.
Tomorrow is another Pop Art Party! I need to rest up for the big day.
